Unlocking Every Child’s Potential
At Phase Homes, we believe that education is key to children’s future opportunities and well-being. We recognize that due to disruption in their lives, some children may have had negative experiences of education or gaps in their learning. Our approach is to support each child to re-engage with education in a positive way and realize their full potential.
We work closely with schools, the Virtual School for Children in Care, and other education providers to ensure that each child receives appropriate educational support. We celebrate educational achievements of all kinds, recognizing that success looks different for each individual.
School Support
We make every effort for children to continue attending their existing educational provision where appropriate, using transportation where necessary. For children who need to change schools, we work closely with education providers and the local authority to find the most suitable placement.
Our support for school attendance includes:
- Morning routines that ensure children are prepared for the school day
- Transportation to and from school when needed
- Regular communication with teachers and school staff
- Attendance at parents' evenings and school events
- Support with homework and assignments
- Advocacy for children who need additional resources or accommodations
Special Educational Needs
We recognize that many children in care have special educational needs that require additional support. Any special educational needs are identified through Personal Education Plans (PEPs) and Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Our approach to supporting children with special educational needs includes:
- Working closely with specialist services and professionals
- Implementing recommended strategies and interventions
- Advocating for appropriate educational provision
- Supporting children to understand their learning needs and develop self-advocacy skills
- Celebrating progress and achievements at the child's individual level
