Creating a Family-Like Atmosphere
Life at Phase Homes follows a regular routine that helps everyone know what to expect, while still being flexible enough to accommodate individual needs and special events.
On school days, staff will help you get ready for school with breakfast and any other preparation you need. After school, there’s time for homework, activities, and relaxation.
Mealtimes are important at Phase Homes – we eat together like a family, and you’ll have the opportunity to help plan menus and learn to cook if you’d like to.
Bedtimes depend on your age:
- Ages 10-12: 9:00 PM
- Ages 13-14: 9:30 PM
- Ages 15-16: 10:00 PM
- Age 17: 10:30 PM
Activities & Opportunities
We believe that activities and play are essential components of children’s social and psychological development. Participation in activities helps children develop confidence, social skills, and self-advocacy while supporting positive emotional and physical health.
We take time to understand each child’s interests and preferences, supporting them to:- Continue existing hobbies and activities
- Try new experiences in a supportive environment
- Join community clubs and groups
- Develop creative and artistic skills
- Engage in physical activities that promote health and well-being
Our activities coordinator works with children to plan both individual and group activities, ensuring that each child has opportunities to pursue their interests and develop new skills.
Life Skills
Preparing children for independence is an important part of our work. We support the development of practical life skills appropriate to each child’s age and developmental stage, including:
- Personal care and hygiene
- Cooking and kitchen safety
- Laundry and clothing care
- Budgeting and money management
- Shopping and meal planning
- Using public transport
- Time management and organization
These skills are taught through everyday activities and specific teaching sessions, with children gradually taking more responsibility as they develop confidence and competence.
